A Strategic Move

VIP Packaging (PACT) specialises in a diverse range of packaging solutions including plastic packaging, steel packaging, extrusion and thermoforming, closure systems. In early 2022 Elecstar was engaged to discuss VIP Plastics Packaging moving 20 blow moulding machines from their existing site at Cherry Lane, Laverton North to a new site at 14B Gordon Luck Ave, Altona.

Our Approach & Solution

Elecstar’s Turnkey Solution for VIP Packaging’s Expansion

The project encompassed comprehensive engineering and design efforts to integrate 20 machines alongside essential mechanical services equipment, including chillers, 2 x  500-amp compressors, and 4 x 2000-amp sub-distribution boards. These machines were disconnected from the Cherry Lane site and subsequently relocated by MRA to make connections at the new site. All cable tray works to accommodate cabling and services were supplied and installed by Elecstar.

  • Safety Risk assessments to be carried out to 40-machines at the current Cherry Lane site with detailed reports and quotations for all the required works.
  • 20 x machines were selected to by PACT to be relocated and 20 x purchase orders were received to allow Elecstar proceed with the Category 3 upgrades including Electrical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic, and mechanical works.
  • All safety upgrade works were carried out to the machines prior to relocation. During this time 4 x 2000-amp distribution board were designed and manufactured and then installed by Elecstar at the new site.

Award-Winning Innovation

In 2023, Elecstar was honoured with the runners-up award for excellence in the category of Large Industrial Project 2023, coming in close to the largest electrical company in Australia, Stowe.

This accolade underscores our commitment to excellence and innovation in the electrical industry. This project showcased our expertise in managing large-scale industrial moves and our capability to execute complex engineering and design challenges with precision.
